Three-sided nail buffer?

Well, my boyfriend got lured by the sellers from this Deep Sea cart at the middle of the mall and ended up buying me all this stuff for my skin and nails.

Anyway, I tried using the three-sided nail buffer today, and my nails are much smoother, but they aren't too shiny. I'm not that disappointed, its just that my boyfriend said that the guy who sold him the stuff demonstrated the buffer on one of his friend's nails, and he said he could literally see his reflection. Now, I know that was probably an exaggeration, but my nails aren't the least bit shiny. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes, its true that you should start with the lowest grit side first (the 'roughest' side) and work your way up to the highest grit, which is the smoothest feeling side. There is not timeframe that you have to do each for, but the object is to smooth out your nail with the first side - but not too much or it will damage your nail over time. Its just to remove any ridges, and other imperfections. The next side is used to remove any scratches which the first side may have left, and to further smooth out the surface of your nail. The final side is used to provide a high shine to your nails. Use it by going over the entire surface, back and forth in swift motions. You do not have to put a lot of pressure on the buffer while using it, let it do the work for you, so to speak. If you have done the first two steps correctly, then the final buffing with the shiner will only take a very short time to achieve a very high gloss. Once you have gotten your nails nice and shiny, finish off the treatment with a good quality cuticle oil. Choose one with Jojoba oil in it. Apply and gently massage into your cuticles and your nails. It will give your nails additional shine, and help to keep them moisturized and healthy. Your cuticles will also be in better condition with regular use of cuticle oil. Use it 2-3 times a day, every day. There isn't such a thing as using too much cuticle oil. Do it as often as you remember to use it. More is better in this case.
These buffers are only good for a few uses. Then its time to get a new one because they wear down quickly, and won't work as effectively.
