LOST: SO WHAT DO YOU THINK OF JACOB NOW?
What did you think when he kicked Alperts @ss? Doesn't seem so gentle and incapable of wrongdoing any more does he? And why does everyone still think Smokey is the one to hate? Just because Alperts wife said to keep the MIB on the island? Because he smashed a bottle of evil? It's bothering me how everyones saying "oh it was just so nice how he befriended Richard and made him immortal" ...like it was something sweet and beautiful and there were flowers and hugs or something. What I saw was not sweet, but rather some sort of sinister soul-for-immortality exchange. He didn't want to the dirty work so sold Alpert immortality because he's to lazy to come out of his concrete foot to deal with the mess he's made..pathetic. I don't know who to trust just yet, but I know that I don't trust Jacob whatsoever. So what do you think of Jacob and Smokey now?
I think you are missing the point, people get angry at god for allowing bad things to happen like 9/11, murder, earthquakes and plane crashes and so on. God gives us free will, freedom to choose good or evil, bad things happen yes but God does not make them happen at times he will intervene but not always.
jacob is like that, the people of the island have free will, that is why jacob told ben "you don't have to do this ben" when ben was sent to kill jacob. but ben chose to kill, he chose not jacob. the devil manipulate him like he manipulates you and I for those of you who are christians. but its up to us to choose not to let him.
some people are tempted to steal a wallet full of money and will steal it, others would find a wallet full of money and give it back to its owner instead, its your choice good or evil. jacob/god does not intervene on free will, its up to you to say yes to jacob or no.
and as far as jacob manipulate the losties to the island. its like god drawing you into the church. showing you the way to what it is you desire guiding you to the forces of good and eternal life which is what he gave richard at richards asking. richard said if he can't have his wife or absolution then he don't want to die at all.
so when you say jacob doesn't want to do the dirty work himself. he ask alpert to be an intermiediary. thats like God sending Jesus down from heaven to be a intermediary.
